The sprite sheet cutter supports two ways to describe a regular grid. Rows and columns divide the usable image area into whole-pixel cells; frame dimensions use the exact width and height you enter. Switching modes carries valid computed values across, so you can refine a layout without starting the setup again.

A single sheet may contain several actions and unused cells. Choose one range for a walk cycle, add specific frames with a click, or exclude cells whose pixels are entirely transparent. Original grid numbers remain visible even when your selection is smaller. Shift-click extends a selection from the last clicked frame.

Animation preview plays selected frames in row-major order: left to right, then top to bottom. Pause, step through the sequence, or set a uniform FPS to find an incorrect cut. When a sheet arrives from Maker, its frame names and timing accompany the original grid setup. A plain PNG upload has no timing metadata.
Extract a short idle, run, or attack loop from a larger animation sheet. The frame range controls make it easier to isolate one action while leaving the other rows alone. If the asset packs different actions in different rows, select the matching grid numbers instead of assuming that the entire sheet is one continuous animation.
Convert a sprite sheet to PNG files when you need individual icons, thumbnails, or frames for another editor. Each extracted image preserves the pixels inside its cell, including transparent padding. This sprite sheet cutter does not remove backgrounds, erase guide lines already baked into the source, or reinterpret the artwork.
An offset moves the first cutting cell away from the left or top image edge. A gap skips pixels between cells. Right and bottom margins can exclude an outer border, including margins passed from Maker. If every cut drifts farther from the artwork across a row, check the horizontal gap rather than shifting the entire grid.
Cells use whole pixels. When an image does not divide evenly, the tool reports unused pixels at the right and bottom instead of stretching the frames or silently treating a partial cell as complete. A grid that cannot fit a full frame blocks export. Recheck the dimensions against your source before accepting the preview.
Select one frame for a direct PNG download or several for a ZIP containing consecutively numbered filenames. Grid numbers and source names help you trace each exported image back to its place in the sheet. Excluding transparent frames only removes fully transparent cells, not dark cells or images with a solid background.
Your image stays on your device. Uploads are limited to 50 MiB, 8192 pixels per edge, and 16 million pixels per source image. Extraction supports up to 256 frames and 32 million decoded frame pixels. Close an oversized selection or increase cell size if needed. The workspace is temporary, so download results before refreshing.

The tool estimates regular rectangular grids from image dimensions, but dimensions alone cannot reliably identify rotated frames, variable cell sizes, or tightly packed texture atlases. Those formats need frame metadata or a specialized unpacker. Adjust the estimate to the source specification when needed.
The cutting cells probably do not match the original frame dimensions or spacing. Zoom into the overlay and check the first cell, the next cell, and the final cell of a row. Correct offsets and gaps before exporting again.
Yes. Check Include animated GIF before downloading a ZIP. The GIF plays the selected frames in order, using the current timing. PNG frames remain in the same archive.
